I was driving back home from my moms house when all of the sudden I got an email notification from Gmail saying that a new device was trying to log into my account. Weird. It asked if it was me and of course I said no. Wasn't too panicked, thought maybe it was a bug. Then the same notification came again, and again. . At this point I was trying not to panic. I didn't want to assume that I was being hacked but then a minute or so passed and I got an email from Patreon asking me if I was signing in from a new device. FUCK! At this point I was in full panic attack mode. Then Dropbox sent an email, etc. So there I was in my car stuck in traffic with 15 mins between me and home, my heart was racing, with someone else out there trying to hack into my accounts. I tried changing emails from my phone but I was too flustered to figure it out. . Without making this any more dramatic, I was able to get home and change all my most critical passwords before any serious damage could be done. Or at least I hope so. I don't know what else they got into but holy shit was that one of the most scary things that has happened to me. To all the creators out there, make sure to update those passwords and keep them secure. I fucked up and had kept the same password for like four years and had used it on so many things. I now have some much better passwords in place, but if anyone has any great advice on how they manage passwords, I am all ears.
