Here's how it came about: I did an interview for Bateworld.com a few years ago about my photos, etc, and David (one of the owners of the site) and I continued to chat over the years. He also produced erotic videos of his own music and knew I was a musical guy as well. We talked about doing a collaboration, something musical, something arty, something sexy. After I lost both my folks within 13 months of each other, plus turning 60, I felt the clock start ticking, really loud and really fast. I wrote a song for myself, a bittersweet tune called "Happy Birthday to Me" about gratitude, fear, desire, sorrow, everything that hit hard the day I turned 60. I thought it might make for a good video and David agreed, but he wanted to play against the more solemn aspects of the song and make it a celebration of...well...me. I'm very pragmatic but I loved that he's very esoteric, so I figured I would roll with it and see what we could come up with. He definitely had a vision. We shot at his place in Arizona and worked hard for 48 hours. Here's the result. It's definitely on the artier side, and some would say weird, but I think it's kind of neat and a lot of fun. Some of you may have already seen it on Bateworld, but for those who have not, I present "Happy Birthday To Me." I hope you get a kick out of it.
